How To Make A Fishing Pole
Cane pole fishing is one of the most traditional types that people can do. This type of fishing pole uses bamboo – which is considered to be one of the strongest types of woods that anyone can use. Over the years it has been growing in popularity and more and more people want to try it – but not everyone wants to pay the money to purchase one of these fishing poles.
Rather then spending hundreds of dollars on a brand new fishing pole you can learn how to make your very own cane fishing pole rod. It is easy to do and you will be able to save yourself a great deal of money. This is perfect for people who are not able to fish very often or who do not have the money too.
What To Do
- The first thing that you will need to do is purchase a dried bamboo stick and use a fine sand paper to remove any splinters and rough spots. Once this is done you will need to use a wood lacquer – which will need ten hours to dry. When it is dry apply a second coat of the lacquer making sure that it is even and once again allow it to dry.
- Use twine and secure it to the top and bottom of the pole. Make sure that it is on tightly. This will be what you will use when setting up the reel and eyelets. Go up two feet from the thick end of the pole and place a mark every foot. Do this until you reach the top of the pole and make sure it is straight.
- Use your sand paper and sand out these marks for wide eyelets. From big to small you will need to epoxy each of the eyelets and place them on these spots. Use tie wraps to secure them tightly. Let the epoxy to cure for at least twelve hours.
- At least four inches from the wide end of the pole you will need to sand another spot that is in line with the eyelets and wide enough to place the bottom of your fishing reel. Use the tie wraps to attach them to the reel securely. Remove the reel’s spool and add on a mono filament line. Lastly you will need to thread the fishing pole.
